Knowing and Doing Healthy Action Steps – why is it so hard?

There is a huge, I say huge disconnect between knowing and doing. Everyone knows, exercise, and eating veggies with every meal is good for them, yet still do not. Why?

If we had the exact answer, well I would not be typing this.

We all have deeply engrained beliefs. Here I would like to propose a change or suggested change in perspective for a moment to help you contemplate making choices to help you and your family move in the direction of health and healing versus sit stagnant and not move that direction or worse move in the direction of decline.

  1. Purpose or Why. What is your why for living or moving toward optimal health? Simply being pain free is not good enough. If there is no why, or purpose, some perhaps may see life as something that you just get through.
  2. Self Esteem. If self esteem is low, they feel unworthy of being cared for, focused on, spending time or money on.
  3. Upside down priorities. Are you defined by what you wear, how you look, the vehicle you drive or how often you get your gel nails done? Are you so busy trying to keep up with, “The Jone’s,” that you don’t have funds to invest in your Health? Or your Future Health.
  4. Disconnected. Are you conscious and aware of what your body is feeling and telling you or have you trained it to be put on ignore or silent? Do you sit and stare at a screen waiting for the day to be done to begrudgingly wake up the next day?
  5. What Margin of Health do you Aim for? If your target is nothing more than being symptom free, this can be a reflection of all other areas of life. Little gas in your vehicle, less than a week of groceries on hand at home, just to name a few examples.

Can beliefs and self-image be changed?

Yes!

Often real change happens when a large pivotal moment happens in life and you reevaluate your situation. Often these moments are quite negative. A wake up call if you will.

Sometimes change happens an you are surrounded by those that inspire you, or perhaps it’s time and repetition of hearing something to help you move forward.

Often change occurs when someone feels supported and respected.
