Prevention and Chiropractic?

Prevention is not possible. Why do I say this. If you come in as your body is not functioning or expressing it self in a symptom free manner and apply chiropractic care – your expectation would be is that it never comes back? This is untrue.

If you had a sore stomach per say (different topic), and you had it cared for and you expected prevention – you would it expect it to never return. This is not possible.

Perhaps you are an Athlete or fitness is a high value to you and by going for chiropractic care you expect after tweaking your knee it would never return. Impossible. It is not a matter of if, but when.

A colleague/friend shared this awesome analogy to help better understand how chiropractic helps.

In chiropractic we help individuals adapt better to the load of life. What does this mean? Chiropractic helps ensure the nerve system that receives, interprets and responds to your life experience has a ”bounce back,” effect. This bounce back effect is like one of those punching dolls that stand on the floor. Do you recall those?

As life punches us in the face – we bounce back. A system that loses its “bounce,” is inefficient, it loses it energy, its ability to bounce like a punching dolls with not enough air in it. It can eventually before deflated when life walks on top of it if not properly cared for.

So why don’t people’s conditions come back? In some regards they may, yet one is more resilient as the air in the “punching bag,” is known in the body as plasticity of the brain. Once we will up the bag with air, or support/strengthen/ develop the plasticity of the brain it withstands life’s punches better than it used to.

This is called ADAPTABILTY.

Life will punch you in the face! Some especially feel it right now given the world’s current environment. Things will happen and are happening as you get stronger during your journey of moving towards healing and health. Healing does not happen in a perfectly straight line or algorythm as we are all unique beings coming from unique experiences throughout our life’s.

Yet once things happen – your ability to get up again and bounce back ( aka the air in your bag/ plasticity) will determine your health. Health again is not being the absence or presence of symptoms.

We do have limitations of matter that can impact us. Yet the stronger and more inflated (plasticity / adaptability), you are, the sooner you will get back up.
