Tween and Teen Athlete Checklist for Health

As a passionate Athlete your health and your performance matters.  You seek chiropractic because of both of those.

ONE VILLAGE ATHLETE CHECK-IN

“Learn your body. Trust your body. Take care of your body.”

Daily Body Awareness (1 minute check-in)

☐ Do I feel energized, or tired and heavy?
☐ Do I have any
tightness or soreness? Where?
☐ Is my
posture strong (head over shoulders, ribs over pelvis)?
☐ Am I
breathing deeply, or shallow and rushed?
☐ Do I feel
focused, or distracted and overwhelmed?

If something feels “off,” your body is talking. Pay attention.

MOVE BETTER

Ask yourself:

☐ Do I feel stiff anywhere? → add stretching or mobility
☐ Do I feel
weak or unstable? → add strength work
☐ Do I feel
tight and overworked? → lighten training or recover
☐ Did I
move in different ways today (run, jump, twist, balance)?

Reminder: Your body needs variety, not just repetition.

RECOVERY CHECK

☐ Did I sleep 8–10 hours last night?
☐ Do I wake up feeling
rested?
☐ Do I need a
rest day or lighter day?
☐ Have I taken time to
relax, breathe, or be still today?

Ask for help if:

  • You’re always tired
  • You’re not improving
  • Small injuries keep coming back

FUEL YOUR BODY

☐ Did I eat real food today (protein, healthy fats, fruits/veggies)?
☐ Did I drink
enough water?
☐ Did I eat
before and after activity?
☐ Am I skipping meals or eating too much junk?

Ask for help if:

  • You feel low energy often
  • You get dizzy, shaky, or headaches
  • Your performance is dropping

MINDSET MATTERS

☐ Am I being hard on myself, or encouraging myself?
☐ Did I do my
best today, not just try to be perfect?
☐ Am I having
fun, or feeling pressure all the time?
☐ Do I feel
stressed or overwhelmed?

Talk to someone you trust if your thoughts feel heavy.

SOCIAL + FUN CHECK

☐ Did I laugh or have fun today?
☐ Did I spend time with
friends or family?
☐ Do I feel
connected, or alone?

A healthy athlete has joy, not just discipline.

PAIN & WARNING SIGNS

STOP and speak up if you notice:

☐ Pain that doesn’t go away
☐ Pain that gets
worse with activity
☐ Feeling
off-balance, dizzy, or not coordinated
☐ Headaches, trouble concentrating
☐ You’re changing how you move to avoid pain

Pain is not something to push through. It’s something to understand.

WHEN TO CHANGE SOMETHING

Adjust your routine if:

☐ You feel tired → sleep more / lighten training
☐ You feel stiff →
stretch / move more
☐ You feel weak →
add strength work
☐ You feel stressed →
slow down / breathe / talk it out
☐ You feel bored or burned out →
add play and variety

WHEN TO ASK FOR HELP

Talk to a parent, coach, or chiropractor if:

☐ Something feels “off” and doesn’t improve
☐ You don’t understand what your body is telling you
☐ You’re not getting better despite trying
☐ You feel overwhelmed physically or mentally

FINAL REMINDER

Your body is always giving you information
Strong athletes listen, not ignore
Taking care of yourself makes you better—not weaker
