Frequency of Chiropractic Care
Prenatal, Pregnancy & Postnatal Support

At One Village Family Chiropractic Community, frequency of care is guided by physiology, nervous system adaptability, and the individual needs of each person and family. Pregnancy and the postnatal period represent times of rapid neurological, hormonal, structural, and emotional change. Consistent care supports the body as it adapts.

Initial Phase of Care
Care typically begins at three visits per week for the first twelve weeks. This initial phase focuses on establishing pelvic balance, improving spinal adaptability, and supporting nervous system regulation. Regular frequency during this phase allows the body to respond, adapt, and stabilize rather than continually compensating under stress.

Why Consistent Frequency Matters
Pregnancy places increasing demand on posture, movement, sleep, and recovery. Consistent chiropractic care helps reduce accumulated tension, supports regulation, and allows the nervous system to shift out of persistent stress responses. This frequency is especially important when individuals are sitting for long periods, experiencing sleep disruption, or navigating high mental or emotional load.

Individualized Progression of Care
After the initial twelve-week phase, frequency is re-evaluated and tailored to the individual. Ongoing care is influenced by:
• Lifestyle demands and daily stressors
• Nutrient intake and hydration
• Movement habits and physical activity levels
• Sleep quality and recovery
• Mindset, emotional resilience, and nervous system regulation

Some individuals benefit from continued weekly or bi-weekly care throughout pregnancy, while others may transition to maintenance-style visits based on stability and adaptability.

Care Throughout Pregnancy
As pregnancy progresses, the body continues to change. Frequency may increase or decrease depending on comfort, baby growth, pelvic balance, and sleep quality. Third-trimester care often emphasizes gentle, supportive visits to maintain comfort, support nervous system calm, and prepare the body for birth.

Postnatal Care
The postnatal period is a time of recovery, reorganization, and new physical demands. Caring for an infant, feeding, lifting, and disrupted sleep place new stresses on the nervous system, spine, and pelvis. Postnatal chiropractic care supports recovery, nervous system regulation, and long-term resilience. Frequency during this stage is individualized and may begin with closer spacing, then taper as stability improves.

A Supportive, Collaborative Approach
Chiropractic care does not replace midwifery, obstetrical, or medical care. It works alongside doulas, midwives, and obstetricians to support the parent’s body and nervous system. Our goal is to provide consistent, thoughtful care that adapts with you through each stage.

Frequency is not rigid—it is responsive. Care plans evolve as your body, lifestyle, and nervous system change.
