Vagus Nerve

The Vagus nerve has multiple functions yet one is to Calm and Comfort.
This nerve is one of the most popular hashtags in the wellness world today. For good reason.

So what is the vagus nerve? The vagus nerve is located in the brain stem and neck, and runs throughout the entire body, making it the longest nerve in the human body. It is also known as the wandering nerve.

The vagus nerve has a role whereby it is in charge of the “rest and digest” area of our bodies, as well as many other important functions such as supporting the immune system function and regulating inflammation, as well as social and emotional regulation.

Unfortunately, the vagus nerve can be easily disrupted or damaged at birth or other times in life. Currently we are seeing more babies, children, teens with vagus nerve issues.

This is no small matter. Vagus nerve health is so important for kids in so many ways. It is responsible for many important functions in the body and without proper funct, the nervous system will not keep up to speed and develop in a proper sequence in many cases.

As a neurologically-brain based chiropractor, our job is to assess the vagus, along with all parts of the neuro spinal system, to make sure there is no interference and make sure that the brain is communicating properly to the rest of the body and vice versa. (It becomes an input issue – creating an output issue).
